Le Grand Carénage de l’Hermione à Bayonne
Hermione’s major refit in Bayonne, French-style know-how for this ambassador frigate
Hermione, a copy of the frigate armed by Lafayette that set sail to help Americans during their revolutionary war in the 18th century, is currently on dry dock at Port Adhoc Bayonne-Anglet in the Basque Country. An extraordinary sight: a frigate on dry land for a refit! For the first time since it was launched, visitors can discover Hermione during this maintenance operation. After the tour, visitors are in for a few surprises: a museographic space and an exhibition focusing on the history of the reconstruction of the world’s largest replica of an 18th-century frigate, as well as a competition based on Nouvelle-Aquitaine destinations.

For info : The “Hermione – Explore France” itinerant journey across Northern European countries is set to take place in 2023.
