Upgraded and refurbished accommodations

Biarritz Pays basque offers many hotels of all categories. Whether for their comfort, their location or the history of the location, several of these accommodations are quite remarkable and particularly conducive to well-being. Several reopenings are planned this year.

In Biarritz

  • Reopening of Biarritz’s emblematic 5-star Hôtel du Palais on 26 March, 2021. After many months of refurbishment, the Atlantic Coast’s only Palace will be reopening its 142 embellished and rejuvenated rooms.

  • In Biarritz city centre, the 4-star Hôtel du Café de Paris and its 19 ocean view rooms, have been renovated by Maison Sarah Lavoine designerswho also refurbished the Café Basque, a chic brasserie whose menu, by the Michelin star chef Cédric Béchade echoes his Auberge Basque restaurant in Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle.

 

  •  In the heart of Biarritz, right next to the Casino, the 4-star Hôtel Plaza  overlooks la Grande Plage beach. This almost century-old establishment, classified as a "Historic Monument", sublimates the Art-Deco style, with its 69 rooms. The hotel's lobby and bar are currently being renovated and are due to reopen in May-June. An ideal place to relax while contemplating the ocean.

 

  • The 4 star L’hôtel Silhouette turns 10 in 2021: for the occasion, its 21 rooms and suites have been renovated, in order to preserve the authenticity and charm of the historic building while offering both conviviality and refinement. In the heart of the Les Halles district in Biarritz, the hotel features a shady garden and a bucolic terrace.

 

  • Upgrading for the 3-star Hôtel Karitza in Biarritz which has now become the 4-star Hôtel Littéraire Jules Verne, with a capacity of 77 rooms. It is the 6th Hôtels Littéraires in France, and will be entirely dedicated to the French author’s universe. An elegant and varied offer! Opening on May 1st.

 

  • The entirely renovated former Hôtel Palym has now become the 3-star Le Palmito. Located right next to Biarritz’s old port, the new decor gives pride of place to natural materials in a surfing and beach spirit. 20 rooms will be available (private rooms, dormitories and a suite).

 

  • The 4-star Garage will be opening in summer 2021: The former garage of the Régina Biarritz Hotel & Spa - MGallery is being transformed into a 4-star hotel with 27 rooms and suites with ocean or golf view, in a relaxed "neo-retro" decor.  The hotel will be equipped with a heated outdoor swimming pool and a private underground car park. The hybrid and friendly lobby opens onto a terrace by the swimming pool and will offer a dining concept.

 

In Bayonne

  • In 2020, the 4-star Hôtel Villa Koegui opened in the historical heart of Bayonne, a stone's throw from the Basque Museum and the Bonnat-Helleu Museum. The hotel has 43 rooms and suites and is also open to outside guests. Superbly decorated, it is a perfect blend of contemporary spirit and Basque culture. Comfort and elegance await you!

 

In Saint-Jean-de-Luz

  • Between the sea and mountains, a stone’s throw from the gorgeous Saint-Jean de Luz bay, the 4-star Hôtel La Réserve is located in a park and offers a breathtaking view of the ocean. In the spirit of a Basque house, this upmarket establishment features 41 rooms, including 6 suites. The nearby Résidence La Réserve offers 44 renovated flats and studios. For more than 10 years, the hotel has been committed to sustainable development: European eco-label, training of team members, farm to fork…

  • Rebirth for the 4-star Hôtel & Spa Hélianthal Thalazur in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, connected directly to the thalassotherapy centre. A magnificent 30s balneotherapy-style renovation for the hotel’s 96 rooms, 10 suites (including 4 duplexes), bar and restaurant.

 

In Hendaye

 

  • Hendaye’s 4-star Camping Ametza is a family affair and offers guests a breathtaking panorama, between the ocean and mountains. This authentic campsite offers guests either regular accommodation with all the modern conveniences (chalets, mobile-home) or atypical accommodation with top of the range services.  In 2021, new « premium » spots (120 sq. metres) private sanitary facilities will be available.

 

Atypical and secret accommodations

Biarritz-Pays basque offers a host of atypical and secret, comfortable and friendly accommodations.

  • La ferme d’Ika in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, an authentic entirely renovated 17th century Basque farm, with two B&B rooms and all the mod cons: « Itsasoa » and « Mendia »

 

  • Etxea & Co, new 5-room guest house in Bidart, committed to an eco-citizen approach. Entirely renovated, it features natural and quality materials, with a swimming pool and landscaped garden offering a breathtaking view of the mountains. 

 

  • L'auberge Koskenia, Bidart’s old post office, completely transformed into a new generation inn. 3 regular double rooms and 5 dormitory rooms, a bar, restaurant and local goods grocery shop. A friendly and atypical place, in the heart of the village.

 

  • Near Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the 2-star Hôtel Andreïnia offers a tree cabin and a « Tiny House” with all the modern conveniences, that can greet up to 4 guests. Ideal for an atypical nature holiday and a change of scenery.
